Mediacorp wins double Gold at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2025
Singapore, 26 September 2025 – Mediacorp has clinched two Golds at the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2025, further elevating Singapore’s presence in the global media landscape.
Held in Cannes, France on 24 and 25 September, the awards celebrate excellence in corporate films, online media and documentaries, honouring outstanding storytelling and craftsmanship. This year’s edition drew entries from around the globe, with Mediacorp earning two notable wins.
Mediacorp’s first Gold was awarded to CNA documentary Daughters of Putien in the category “Documentaries and Reports (TV, Online, Cinema): Ethnology and Sociology”. The documentary traces the poignant stories of young women brought to Putien after being abandoned under China’s one-child policy, shedding light on resilience, displacement and identity.
The second Gold went to another CNA programme, The Resurrection Quest (Episode 2 – Birth) in the category “Documentaries and Reports (TV, Online, Cinema): Science, Technology and Innovation”. Produced by Storyteller Films, the international documentary explores the frontiers of science, from de-extinction and cloning to cutting edge genetics and conservation projects, examining humanity’s ambition to restore ecosystems and revive species on the brink of extinction.
Walter Fernandez, Mediacorp's Editor in Chief and Chief Sustainability Officer, said, “These two prestigious gold awards exemplify some of the core strengths of CNA’s documentary teams and production partners – a deep and nuanced understanding of Asia; as well as unparalleled access around the world.
Daughters of Putien lifts the veil on a facet of China’s one child policy that few, even in China, knew about. It exposes the raw, heart-breaking emotions of women who were once unwanted babies sold to families who wanted servants and future daughters-in-law.
The Resurrection Quest – which involved filming in the Middle East, Africa, the United States and Asia – saw the production team secure access to a cloning lab in China; interviews with owners of cloned pets; explore camel cloning in the UAE; and witness IVF on the northern white rhino in Kenya."
"These wins will motivate us to keep delivering high quality, engaging productions that appeal on the global stage,” he added.
