770,000 viewers counted down to 2019 with Mediacorp’s Let’s Celebrate 2019

Singapore, 7 January 2019 — Singaporeans welcomed 2019 with a celebration of all things local, counting down to the new year with Mediacorp’s Let’s Celebrate 2019 which featured singers including Taufik Batisah, Joanna Dong, Gentle Bones and a special fashion segment helmed by fashion doyen Daniel Boey.

Let’s Celebrate 2019 recorded close to 770,000 viewers1 making it the most-watched countdown show on Channel 5 and the second-highest single variety programme in 2018, after National Day Parade. The show was also live-simulcast on Toggle and combined with its catch-up views, generated over 61,000 video views and around 25,000 unique viewers as at 1 January 2019².

Irene Lim, Chief Customer Officer, Mediacorp said: “Let’s Celebrate 2019, our final production last year, was a celebration of local talent, music, design and technology, providing the perfect scene for a Singaporean countdown. We are delighted that so many people chose to spend that special moment of hope and positivity with Mediacorp.”

The Promontory event attracted a huge crowd when the gates were opened at 7pm and hit a capacity crowd of 5,000 at around 11.30pm on 31 December 2018.
