Joel Chua
Joel began his news radio career at Radio Singapore International as a producer-presenter, reporting on local and Southeast Asian current affairs, as well as medical news. He cut his journalistic teeth covering the 2006 World Bank-IMF Meetings in Singapore, and securing a one-on-one interview with a cabinet minister.
He then moved to 938LIVE, where he focused on local current affairs and co-anchored the 2011 General Election results night special programming. He was also appointed Assistant Programme Director, a role in which he supported the station’s programming strategy and content development.
Joel also provided live commentary for Channel 5’s National Day Parade coverage in 2012.
Joel took a break from the broadcast media sector and obtained postgraduate qualifications in counselling; he practised professionally for a number of years as a psychotherapist and corporate trainer focussing on psychological wellbeing. Tapping on his experience in this field, Joel hosted “Journeys Within”, a weekly programme on mental health, for 938NOW.
Joel rejoined Mediacorp full-time in 2023 as a Presenter/Senior Producer. He currently produces and hosts the personality-profile segment “A Letter to Myself”, which airs on CNA938’s Nightlife every weekday evening from 8pm.
