Roland Lim is a business news presenter and veteran journalist with over 25 years of broadcasting experience across Asia. He currently fronts the business segment of ‘East Asia Tonight’, one of CNA’s flagship evening newscast covering major developments in Greater China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. He also delivers business updates on ‘Asia Now’, CNA’s fast-paced hourly bulletin tracking market and economic trends.

A recognisable face of CNA’s Hong Kong bureau for more than two decades, Roland served as Chief Correspondent, reporting from the frontline of Asia’s financial powerhouse. His in-depth coverage has spanned pivotal moments - from the 2003 SARS outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic, to the 2014 Occupy Central protests and the 2019-2020 unrest in Hong Kong.

Roland has chronicled Asia’s biggest business stories, including the 2007-2008 global financial crisis and milestone IPOs like ICBC’s US$21.9 billion dual listing. His reporting offers sharp insight into the region’s economic shifts and the evolving dynamics between Hong Kong and Mainland China.

He has interviewed an impressive roster of global figures, from Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore to Hong Kong Chief Executives Tung Chee-Hwa and Donald Tsang, IEA’s Fatih Birol, and business titans such as Mark Tucker, Frans van Houten, Willie Walsh, Tony Fernandes, Ray Dalio, and Jim Rogers.

Before his posting in Hong Kong, Roland helmed ‘Money Mind’, CNA’s weekly programme analysing investment trends and financial strategies. He began his career at KPMG, where he trained as a tax accountant.
