Sharala Devi Gopal
Sharala began her career in the newsroom as a reporter in 2017.
During this period, she has covered a range of stories from community-focused ones to major events such as the 2020 General Elections, 2022 Malaysian Elections, Budget, and National Day Rallies.
Sharala has a knack for digging out unusual stories and issues. An intrepid reporter, several of Sharala’s stories have won internal awards for Best TV Story.
One such story was about restaurant owners who insisted on preparing and cooking the meals by themselves to prevent others from learning their secret recipes. The story received encouraging feedback on social media.
Another thing Sharala is great at is keeping up with social media trends. Her recent story about the growing demand for saree pre-pleating services was a hit with audiences of all ages.
In May 2020, Sharala took on presenting duties for the Tamil TV News Bulletin and has recently made her foray into Radio News as well.
She holds a B.A. in Communications with a Minor in Business from Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Sharala is also the brains behind "Seithikaaga," a competition where contestants take on the role of a news reporter.
A voracious reader, she frequently indulges in her favourite novels.
When she's not working, she loves to cycle and bake delicious cakes.
