1) What would you consider to be the highlight of your internship experience?

It would be being part of the team to cover the 2020 General Elections, even before I was of legal age to vote! I also had the opportunity to visit places which the public do not usually have access to, such as science laboratories, factories and warehouses, and it was an overall eye-opening experience.

2) Is your current role similar to what you did during your internship?

My current role is slightly different from what I did during my internship, although I am working under the same department – News & Current Affairs. I interned as a Visual Journalist where I went on shoots to film for news and now, I work as a Video Editor doing post-production of news clips. Working in a fast-paced industry during my internship trained me to work under pressure and be meticulous at the same time.

3) What made you return to Mediacorp?

I was intrigued by how things worked in the newsroom and wanted to be a part of it on a bigger scale. I also felt that the seniors here are very nurturing, and Mediacorp would be a great place to grow and hone my skills as a fresh graduate.

4) Any advice to students or recent graduates looking for internship opportunities in the media industry?

I believe that having a career in the media industry requires passion and hard work. The industry is always evolving, so being open-minded is also very important! This is especially so since you will meet people with varying perspectives in the media industry where creativity is at play.

5) Finish the sentence: A day in my role at Mediacorp is...

… filled with lots of thrills as the production of news drives a huge adrenaline rush!
