Mediacorp and *SCAPE bump fists in deal to nurture young talent in Singapore

Mediacorp, Singapore’s largest content creator and transmedia platform, and *SCAPE, a leading Singapore-based non-profit youth development organisation, have joined hands in a partnership aimed at amplifying the potential of promising young talent in a youth-centric creative ecosystem.

Singapore, 31 August 2019 – Mediacorp, Singapore’s largest content creator and transmedia platform, and *SCAPE, a leading Singapore-based non-profit youth development organisation, have joined hands in a partnership aimed at amplifying the potential of promising young talent in a youth-centric creative ecosystem.

The two parties inked the agreement on 31 August 2019 in a special segment of the National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) 2019, an annual ceremony held by *SCAPE to recognise and reward pioneering professionals across an array of film-making categories like Best Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Screenplay (refer to annex for full list of awards).

Under the three-year agreement, Mediacorp and *SCAPE will jointly explore avenues for the promotion and talent development of young people aged 15-35.

Through its subsidiary, the Singapore Media Academy, Mediacorp will offer workshops helmed by in-house and industry experts to *SCAPE-affiliated youth programme participants in forward-thinking fields like content creation for social media, multi-platform production and digital marketing. These young talents will also gain the rare opportunity to participate in Mediacorp productions as assistant producers, content writers, filming crew and in other technical and creative capacities.

In addition, NYFA winners will be invited to present story ideas during relevant annual pitching sessions at Mediacorp. Other potential promotional platforms include a Toggle showcase of films by NYFA nominees and winners.

As its strategic media partner, *SCAPE will supply Mediacorp with venue space for joint talent showcase activities, and air relevant Mediacorp content on its premises and platforms.

Irene Lim, Chief Customer Officer, Mediacorp, said: “This partnership leverages *SCAPE’s close on-ground relationship with local youth and Mediacorp’s strengths as a Singapore storyteller and incubator of fresh talent to offer aspiring media professionals an accelerated gateway to a vibrant creative ecosystem. We look forward to fostering the next generation of content creators for the multi-platform mediascape of the future.”

Goh Kok Wee, Executive Director, *SCAPE, said: “We are thrilled to partner Mediacorp to develop young talent at *SCAPE and provide an elevated platform for them to excel in their passions. This partnership opens doors to many exciting opportunities for our youth content creators of tomorrow. We look forward to working closely with Mediacorp as we witness and help the coming generation reach new heights in their personal and professional growth.”
