Pesta Perdana 2021 returns to honour the finest in Malay entertainment

Singapore, 10 February 2021 – Pesta Perdana, Mediacorp Suria’s biennial awards show is returning on 5 March to celebrate the best of Malay entertainment in Singapore! This year’s star-studded event is themed “Celebrating Artistic Excellence”, paying homage to the local talents who continue to brave the storms during these unprecedented times.

To be hosted by iconic artiste Najip Ali, Pesta Perdana 2021 will see a total of 30 awards presented to recognise the outstanding talents and creative content in the local Malay entertainment scene. This includes the newly added Rancangan Audio Terbaik (Best Audio Programme) award to honour the best in Malay radio, in conjunction with 85 years of radio broadcasting in Singapore. Another highlight fans can look forward to is the Anugerah Perdana Emas (Lifetime Achievement Award), to be presented to a special individual who has made significant contributions to Singapore’s Malay entertainment scene.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the show will be presented “live” in accordance with IMDA guidelines to a scaled down audience at the Theatre at Mediacorp.

The highly anticipated list of award nominees was unveiled at a media conference held today. Leading the pack is drama series Kultus and Hilang Kasih Di Sarajevo with seven nominations each in categories like Best Drama Series and Best Directing (Drama). The much-coveted Most Popular Male and Female Personality awards will also see tough competition as four-time award winner Nurul Aini is back in the running, while rising stars Hans Hamid and Sabrina Nasir snag their first ever nominations. Fans can vote for their favourite celebrities in these two awards from 20 February, 10am onwards at Voting closes on 5 March, 10.30pm.

Angeline Poh, Chief Customer & Corporate Development Officer, Mediacorp, said: “This edition of Pesta Perdana celebrates the creativity and resilience of our production partners who continued to raise the bar in delivering quality Malay content to entertain and engage our audiences in spite of a very challenging year last year.”
