It was a time of great celebration at the recent Asian Television Awards when Mediacorp clinched the coveted Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year trophy for the fifth consecutive year, marking the 14th time in the show’s 22-year history.
This accolade brought the number of awards Mediacorp picked up in 2017 to 41. The awards received were for production, programming, content as well as marketing campaigns - a testament to the company’s commitment to quality in all aspects of the business.
Mediacorp won eight awards at the 2017 PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards, a competition that recognises outstanding marketing achievements in the global entertainment industry. At the award show held in Los Angeles, #ILoveYouMumChallenge, a campaign which ran across Mediacorp’s suite of Chinese platforms, clinched one gold and three bronze awards. The remaining four awards came from two Channel 5 programmes - comedy Fine Tune and drama The Hush – each winning a Gold and a Bronze award.
Mediacorp also bagged 12 awards (five Silvers, one Bronze, six Finalists) at the 2017 New York Festivals TV and Film Awards, one of the most widely respected Awards in the world for innovative and engaging television programmes. Channel NewsAsia was the biggest winner with five Silver and four Finalist awards, while the Travel SSBD series clinched a Bronze medal for the Online Entertainment Programme category. Channel 5 received a finalist certificate in TV Promotion category for The Hush – Bus Stop, and Mediacorp’s Malay channel Suria received a finalist certificate for its drama, Bunga Tanjong in the “TV Entertainment Special Programme: Mini-series” category.
