The campaign builds on the success and interest in Singapore superstars like JJ Lin and Stephanie Sun, global wins by local talents Nathan Hartono and Joanna Dong, and the renewed love for songs written by Singapore composers, such as Liang Wern Fook (梁文福).
This six-month long nationwide search will be open to students between 13 and 25 years old performing original and reinterpreted songs by Singapore composers and singers. The content may be classic but the strategy is brand new, with the campaign cutting across multiple online and offline platforms for maximum engagement.
Starting in May, auditions will be held at malls and on campuses, and broadcast on Toggle. Voting will be driven via Mediacorp’s extensive social media reach and is guaranteed to create a wave of interest among the student population. The campaign will use a reality show format, and participants will be mentored and judged by renowned Singapore musicians such as Joanna Dong and Nathan Hartono (TBC) with opportunities for fan meets, climaxing in the Grand Finals, an outdoor music festival at the Padang which will be broadcast LIVE on Channel 8.
