SINGAPORE, 8 August 2018 — Mediacorp announces the winners of The Laurels 2018 after one month of intense public voting, which ended on 15 July 2018. Organised by Mediacorp, The Laurels celebrates and honours local works and contributions of advertisers, media and creative agencies.
For the public voting awards, winners are determined entirely by votes from the public:
Emerging the biggest winner, Ministry of Communications and Information’s television commercial, Kungfu Fighter, Hidden Sugar, bagged Singapore’s “Favourite TV Ad”, beating 7 other finalists. The TVC reminded the public to moderate their sugar intake during festive celebrations and was the brainchild of DDB Group Singapore.
Another big winner is Samsung’s Ostrich Brand Campaign, created by Leo Burnett Chicago and supported by media agency Starcom, which took home “Favourite Digital Campaign”.
Garnering the highest number of votes for “Favourite Radio Ad” is IKEA’s Guess What That Sounds Like, created by BBH Asia Pacific.
For the Professional Award categories, winners are determined by a panel of judges from the industry:
The winner for “Best Transmedia Campaign” went to Singtel’s You Make The Call, created by BBH Singapore and supported by media agency Havas Media.
Ministry of Communications and Information’s television commercial, Kungfu Fighter, Hidden Sugar, bagged “Best Homegrown Commercial”.
Samsung’s Ostrich Brand Campaign won “Best of Show Award”.
