SINGAPORE, 21 June 2016 — Mediacorp took home seven wins at the 2016 PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards, a competition which stand for marketing excellence in the media marketing space and an Excellence in Information Graphics award at the prestigious Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards.
At PromaxBDA 2016 awards on 16 June, Mediacorp bagged 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze awards. This year, the said awards regarded as the most prestigious awards for creative endeavour in this field, had the largest participation from more than 280 networks and TV stations around the world and a record 6,000 entries. MediaCorp’s haul of Gold awards came from Channel NewsAsia in the ‘News/Information Programme Spot’ for Bring Back the Girls documentary and Channel 8 Current Affairs in the Art Direction and Design for News Programme Open/Titles in both the Tuesday Report and Money Week.
The Silver awards came from Channel 5's Clip-based Dramatic Programme Spot for Lion Moms (Thank You Mom) and Branded Content Promotion for ‘PAN’ Junket. Channel 5’s drama, Tanglin, also took home a Bronze for Art Direction & Design: Press Kit and the other Bronze goes to Channel 8’s blockbuster drama series, Dream Makers 2 for Consumer or Trade Campaign-Programme.
The SOPA Awards which celebrates editorial excellence in both traditional and new media, were designed to encourage editorial vitality throughout the region. The award for Excellence in Information Graphics (Group B) went to TODAY's Adolfo Arranz for Rohingyas’ painful exodus. The judges were exceptionally impressed with the range of graphical techniques used to explain various details of the story, pulling the reader into the human tragedy that unfolded before their eyes.
