Catch raft of exciting National Day content across Mediacorp’s multiple platforms

Singapore, 1 August 2019 – Celebrate Singapore’s 54th birthday with Mediacorp, as we bring you an array of exciting content this August. Tune in to the Prime Minister’s address to the nation in his National Day Message and National Day Rally, and watch striking military displays and fireworks at the National Day Parade, live from the Padang, as well as rousing performances at the inaugural Gardens By the Bay & Mediacorp National Day Concert.

1.       National Day Message (8 August 2019)

Delivered in Singapore’s four official languages, the National Day Message will be broadcast across Mediacorp’s free-to-air TV channels, radio stations, and digital platform Toggle ( on 8 August 2019.

The Message will be delivered by:
·        Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in English;
·        Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat  in Mandarin;
·        Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister in charge of Muslim Affairs Masagos Zulkifli in Malay; and
·        Minister for Communications & Information S Iswaran in Tamil.

Watch NDP 2019 LIVE in 4K Resolution

For the first-time ever, Mediacorp will also be doing a LIVE telecast of the 54th National Day Parade (NDP 2019) in glorious 4K resolution on Toggle. A special viewing party will be available for public at SAFRA Punggol to experience this year’s celebration in stunning crystal-clear images with enhanced visual details and colour intensity. This is part of their ‘Rediscovering Our National Identity’ series of events, which includes games and other fun activities happening from 3pm to 8pm (for more details, please refer to here).

Toggle users have also been invited to a closed trial of this LIVE 4K event, where they will get to experience this visual treat via their 4K-ready or UHD Smart TV sets.

3.          Gardens by the Bay & Mediacorp National Day Concert (10, 11 August 2019)

A special two-day concert will be held over the National Day weekend on 10 and 11 August at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Visitors can look forward to family-friendly fringe activities starting from 4pm on both afternoons, including workshops, celebrity meet-and-greet sessions and live broadcasts by Mediacorp radio deejays from various stations, just to name a few.

From 6.30pm on both evenings, public can also enjoy riveting performances by local artistes from rising stars to respected veterans. The line-up for 10 August includes chanteuse Kit Chan, singer-composer Dick Lee and Rahimah Rahim. Performers for Sunday 11 August will feature powerhouse vocalist Aisyah Aziz, singer-songwriter Jasmine Sokko, Singapore-born singer Gen Neo, Mandopop band AL4HA among others. The concert will be hosted by deejays Jean Danker, Kun Hua, Farhana M Noor and Eswari Gunasagar.

Highlights from the two-day concert will be shown on Channel 5 on Sunday 18 August in two parts, at 7.30pm - 8.15pm, and 10pm - 11pm and available on Toggle as VOD and Channel 5 YouTube.

4.       National Day Rally (18 August 2019)
This year’s National Day Rally will be held at ITE College Central in Ang Mo Kio. There will be two parts to the speech:

·         Part 1: 6.45pm to 7.30pm – Prime Minister Lee will deliver his speech first in Malay, then in Mandarin.
·         Part 2: 8.15pm to 9.30pm – Prime Minister Lee will deliver his speech in English.
