Eat List Star – an all-new talent search for the next big culinary personality

Singapore, 25 November 2015 – Eat List Star, a search for the best new culinary talents, is calling for entries from professional chefs and talented cooks in Asia-Pacific. Eat List Star is MediaCorp’s first programme under its Eat List umbrella of food-centric initiatives. The competition is supported by award-winning chefs and celebrities, and aims to identify and groom a new generation of food personalities who can cook, host and charm. It will give them the chance to develop their culinary careers, build a fan base, and land long-term media and business development contracts with MediaCorp.

The programme will be conducted primarily through digital platforms such as an Eat List Star microsite (www.eatlist.sg) and social media, to identify talents who have the greatest potential to become the next big celebrity chef on both traditional and new media. In its inaugural run, the competition will focus on food closer to home, with challenges centred on Asian cuisine.
A strong social media presence will place contenders in good stead as the initiative includes online public scoring as a component of the judging process, which will require engaging the larger foodie community in Singapore and around the region. The best ten contenders will each earn a coveted spot in the finals, and the opportunity for their culinary and media careers to be advanced.

Mr. Guillaume Sachet, Head, Foodies Segment, MediaCorp says, “We are on the hunt for a new generation of hip and savvy chefs and media talent who can captivate the hearts and appetites of increasingly discerning audiences across our various media platforms.

“With MediaCorp’s very own multi-media platforms and Eat List Star’s team of distinguished judges, we are excited to launch this competition to discover more professional talents for the foodie community, and provide them with the best training, exposure and support to launch a stellar culinary career.”

With award-winning chefs such as Ryan Clift from Singapore, and celebrities such as Class 95FM deejay Simone Heng and actor-host Uttsada Panichkul (Utt) as judges, the competition features an impressive professional panel that will evaluate the entries and identify the cream of the crop. These respected chefs and personalities will also share their expertise and experiences, as well as provide professional tips and tricks to contenders over the course of the competition.

"Current expectations of a chef are very different from just a decade ago," says Mr. Ryan Clift, Chef-owner, Tippling Club. "Chefs can no longer afford to stay in the kitchen and be acknowledged as a food authority. They have to develop a voice and a personality in both the online and offline community, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this search that honours those expectations. There's a whole lot of exciting, young talent out there waiting to be discovered and I can't wait to get started."

Entry submission for Eat List Star is open from 16 November to 11 December 2015. Interested parties can log on to www.eatlist.sg for more information on the competition.
