General Election 2015: MediaCorp’s Nomination Day coverage

Singapore, 27 August 2015MediaCorp will be providing comprehensive coverage of General Election 2015 from now till Polling Day on 11 September and after.  Beyond extended news coverage, there will be “live” updates and analysis around the election on all its platforms – digital, television, radio and print, as well as its over-the-top service Toggle.

MediaCorp’s Special Programming on Nomination Day 1 September is as follows:

Follow our special “live” coverage of the process of candidates filing their papers to stand in the General Election.  Our teams will be reporting from the nine Nomination Centres across Singapore to see who will be contesting, and where.  Sixteen Group Representation Constituencies and 13 Single Member Constituencies are at stake for a total of 89 parliamentary seats.

Singapore Votes 2015: Political Forum 

Channel NewsAsia is organising two “live” political forums in English and Mandarin, to discuss issues facing Singapore in the 2015 General Election and beyond.  The one-hour forums will bring together representatives from the governing People’s Action Party and the five opposition parties that field the most candidates this election, which will only be confirmed at the close of the nomination period.  The forums will allow viewers to better understand the parties’ positions on issues facing Singapore and get an insight into the candidates vying for their votes.

The English programme will adopt a structured format with time allotted to parties to state their position on issues, as well as a moderated question and answer segment.  Opposition members will be given half the airtime, and the PAP the other half.

Channel NewsAsia will invite the parties to nominate their candidates for the forum after the close of the nomination period on 1 September.  To make the programme more interactive and even more relevant for viewers, the channel will be inviting the public to submit questions via email to  Channel NewsAsia will curate the questions and select the top three issues for discussion.
