Singapore, 21 October 2019 – Catch the ‘live’ action of this year’s Last Palm Standing - Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on 2 November 2019. Besides the competition, there will also be an exciting line-up of family-friendly activities to entertain the crowd. Four hundred contestants from nine Asian markets will compete in one of Asia's largest and toughest urban endurance competitions.
From 1pm on 2 November 2019, contestants will begin the battle by placing their palms on a Subaru Forester 2.0i-S EyeSight. The final contestant standing with his or her palm firmly placed on the car will drive home a brand-new Subaru XV 2.0i-S EyeSight1 worth S$76,800. If the winner is based in Singapore and beats the current record time of 82 hours and 16 minutes, he or she will also receive a Certificate of Entitlement (COE). Contestants who cross the three-hour mark stand to win additional prizes worth up to S$10,000, as well as receive cash incentives for enduring 48 hours.
Ms Debra Soon, Head of Group Corporate Management at Tan Chong International Limited, said: “This annual event has grown from strength to strength and emerged as one of the most highly-anticipated endurance competitions in Asia. Through this deceptively simple but immensely gruelling contest, we hope to inspire more people to push themselves beyond their limits and achieve their biggest goals, as aligned with the philosophy behind the Subaru brand.”
From 2 to 4 November 2019, members of the public can get a taste of the challenge by placing their palms on a Subaru car and posing for pictures. They can also take part in retro arcade games such as Bishi Bashi, Daytona USA and Pac-Man. In addition, there will be nightly screenings of three episodes of the new Mediacorp multilingual drama 128 Circle: episodes 1 – 3 on 2 November at 8.30pm, episodes 4 – 6 on 3 November at 8.30pm, and episodes 7 – 9 on 4 November at 8pm.
