Measures to contain the spread of H1N1 virus

Singapore, 25 June 2009 - With the rising number of H1N1 infections in Singapore, MediaCorp has taken precautionary measures to contain the spread of the virus.

All staff who are unwell are advised to stay away from work and to seek immediate medical attention. All visitors (including studio audiences) are required to have their temperatures taken before they can be admitted. Additionally, visitors are required to declare their contact details as well as travel history for contact tracing purposes, and studio audiences have been requested to stay away if they are unwell or have visited affected countries in the past 7 days.

The medical authorities on 23 June confirmed that a trainee working in MediaCorp had contracted the H1N1 virus. However, the exposure to the virus was limited due to MediaCorp's recent company-wide one week break (15 to 19 June). Those exposed are taking precautions in line with the Health Ministry's guidelines. A follow-up test has revealed that the trainee is now free of the H1N1 virus, and has been cleared to be discharged from hospital.
