MediaCorp broadcasts Prime Minister’s 2008 National Day Message
Available in high-definition on HD5 for the first time
Singapore, 6 August 2008 – Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Message will be broadcast on 8 August 2008, the eve of National Day, across MediaCorp TV and radio stations. PM Lee’s message in English will be televised on Channel NewsAsia at 7.30pm, and on Channel 5, HD5 and TVMobile at 7.45pm. The message will be subtitled for the hearing-impaired.
And, for the very first time, viewers of HD5 – Singapore’s free-to-air HD channel – will be able to catch the broadcast of the National Day Message in true high-definition. Viewers can tune into HD5 over digital terrestrial broadcast, on SingTel’s mio TV platform and on StarHub’s digital cable platform.
The Prime Minister’s message in English can be heard on MediaCorp radio 938LIVE at 7.35pm.
The Prime Minister's National Day Message will also be broadcast in Mandarin, Malay and Tamil on TV and radio.
Mr Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, will deliver the message in Mandarin; Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, will deliver the message in Malay, and the message in Tamil will be delivered by Mr K. Shanmugam, Minister for Law and 2nd Minister for Home Affairs.
