MediaCorp broadcasts Prime Minister’s National Day Rally Speech 2009 'live'

Singapore, 14 August 2009– MediaCorp will broadcast the Prime Minister’s National Day Rally Speech 2009 'live' on Sunday, 16 August 2009 from 6.45pm.

As in previous years, there will be two parts to the speech:
Part 1: 6.45pm to 7.30pm – PM will deliver his speech first in Malay, then in Mandarin.
Part 2: 8.00pm to 10.00pm – PM will deliver his speech in English.

MediaCorp’s broadcast of the PM’s speech in the four official languages is as follows:

A one-hour programme featuring highlights of the rally speech will be telecast on the following channels and timeslots.

This year’s Prime Minister’s National Day Rally speech takes a step further in the online space with interactive website The rally will be available via live streaming and viewers have a choice of watching the rally from four different angles. Other interactive features will allow users to view the public stream of Facebook updates and comments, as well as get Twitter updates of behind-the-scene happenings by the production crew. Radio veteran Brian Richmond, news presenter Otelli Edwards, Channel NewsAsia East Asia bureau chief Maria Siow and undergraduate Hon Jing Yi, whose ages span between the twenties to sixties, will turn blogger for the day and share their views during the rally. Viewers can also voice their opinion by voting at the online polls during the rally.
