MediaCorp sales head takes up Vietnam appointment, new sales head joins from multinational

Singapore, 29 February 2008 - MediaCorp will be assigning its sales head, Mr James Yip, to run its Vietnamese television joint venture and appointing multinational sales veteran Mr Clifton Yong in his place.

Mr Yip will relinquish his current position as on 10 Mar 2008, when Mr Yong joins as MediaCorp's Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing. He will take up his Vietnam posting as Chief Operating Officer for International Media Corporation (IMC) with effect from April 1, 2008.

Just last week, MediaCorp announced its 20 per cent investment in IMC, which is slated to launch a TV channel in Vietnam in the second half of the year. The station is eyeing the burgeoning advertising market, which is expected to grow by 20-30 per cent annually.

Mr Yong brings with him some 20 years of experience in the Communication and Internet industry. His most recent tenure is in Alcatel Lucent where he is the Senior Vice President responsible for the Industry and Public Sector business in Asia Pacific.

Mr Yong will oversee advertising business across all of MediaCorp's media properties, including TV, Radio and Print. He will be focusing on integrated media sales solutions for both local and regional clients.
