Singapore, 7 August 2009 – MediaCorp has been appointed to operate the three media walls at Orchard Central shopping mall which includes the largest outdoor screen in Singapore.
Orchard Central’s three media walls will be launched on 9 August 2009 to commemorate Singapore’s National Day, making it among one of the first Orchard Road malls to telecast the National Day Parade live to shoppers. Two screens are located indoors at the Discovery walk – one on level two and the other on level four – and are 5m by 2.8m in dimension. The third is an outdoor screen facing Orchard Road which boasts a massive 19.6m by 11m in size, making it the largest outdoor media wall in Singapore to date.
Branded as 'OC TV’, the media walls will stream content daily – a combination of Orchard Central’s tenant commercials as well as a special schedule of programmes developed for the mall by MediaCorp.
For content, MediaCorp will offer tips on shopping, dining, fashion and IT will feature prominently, while MediaCorp's international news channel, Channel NewsAsia, will keep shoppers abreast of breaking news. There are plans for interactive content, such as allowing shoppers to send mobile text or even video messages for display on the screens. In addition, the screens will feature advertisements sold by MediaCorp's newly established OOH Media division.

Celebrate National Day in the heart of Orchard Road
Orchard Central invites all in the family to celebrate the nation’s birthday with the live telecast of the National Day Parade. The family fun includes face-painting, red and white manicures, prizes for the best-dressed in the nation's colours, giveaways for 44-year-old shoppers, as well as 44 lucky draw prizes for shoppers who spend at least $44 at the mall on the day.
Shoppers can also view 50 best entries selected from over 900 at the My Life: Then & Now photo contest organised by TODAY newspaper. The exhibition will run from 9 till 21 August 2009 at Orchard Central, Discovery Walk, level 1.
