President's Star Charity 2009 fires up the dance floor

Singapore, 30 September 2009 – The President’s Star Charity 2009 (PSC) invites viewers to put on their dancing shoes and join in the high energy dance extravaganza during its live telecast on Channel 5 on Sunday, 11 October 2009. The 2 1/2-hour live show will see celebrities from Channel 5, 8, U, Suria and Vasantham firing up the dance floor this year with their spectacular dance moves! From Hip Hop to the twist, from the moonwalk to line dancing, the stars go footloose and fancy free all in the name of charity, as they work together with O School, Jumping Jewels, Rhythm n Moves, Country Line Dancing Association and LineDance Society to present a dance showcase rarely seen on television. To add to the 'glam factor’ international sensations Coco Lee and Beatles Unlimited will be on the show to belt out their hits in support of the beneficiaries. See Annex 2 for full artistes list and performing items.

The hosts for this year’s show are Adrian Pang and Michelle Chia.

HE President S R Nathan says, "2009 is a significant year as it marks the 10th anniversary of President’s Challenge. Despite the less favourable economic outlook, I believe that individuals and corporations will continue to lend their support to this annual charity show which has been the highlight of the President’s Challenge each year.”

Mr Lucas Chow, MediaCorp CEO says: “MediaCorp has been producing PSC for more than 15 years and we are both honoured and privileged to be involved in the President’s Challenge. For PSC as the premier fund-raising event of the President’s Challenge, MediaCorp fielded our best talents and creative minds to ensure that it would be a momentous event and a night to remember.”

The President’s Star Charity will be shown 'live’ on Channel 5 on Sunday, 11 October 2009, 7.30pm to 10pm. The encore will telecast on Channel 5 on Sunday, 18 October 2009 from 4.30pm to 7pm.
