SG50 Design-A-Tee: Designed by Singaporeans, for Singaporeans

Singapore, 4 November 2014 – Hot on the heels of “The Gift of Song”, a song writing competition launched in September by MediaCorp to kickstart its SG50 celebratory initiatives, MediaCorp today announces another initiative to rally Singaporeans together through a design competition.  The “Design-A-Tee” initiative is the first of its kind where a tee-shirt is designed by Singaporeans, for Singaporeans.

Christina Chua, MediaCorp Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales Planning says, “We at MediaCorp are thrilled to do our part in galvanizing Singaporeans around a celebration of our heritage and a shared vision of our future.   We are happy that we are able to come up with a simple contest that reaches out to practically every Singaporean, and we are very much encouraged to have the support of Denizen and SG50. 

Adds Christina, “We hope that every Singaporean will be able to own one of these uniquely SG50 tee-shirts and wear it on 9 August 2015 when we celebrate the nation’s 50th birthday.  It would truly be a visual spectacle.”

From the entries received, a judging panel comprising members from MediaCorp, Denizen and SG50 will shortlist 20 designs to be made available for online voting by Singaporeans.   The top 5 voted designs will win a total of $12,000 cash and $6,000 worth of vouchers.  The winning designs will be officially unveiled by MediaCorp artistes who will wear them at the Celebrate SG50 Countdown show on 31 December 2014 at Marina Bay Floating Platform.

The winning designers and their designs will also be featured on MediaCorp’s TV, radio, newspaper, magazines and online platforms.  After its launch on 31 December 2014, the tee-shirts will be available for sale at all Denizen outlets.   Look out for details for a special SG50 tee-shirt autograph signing session involving MediaCorp artistes at a Denizen store in January 2015!
