Singapore and worldwide audiences enjoy raft of National Day programmes live on Mediacorp broadcasts
Singapore, 5 August 2016 – Singapore and worldwide audiences will experience the nation’s 51st birthday through a series of key National Day programmes to be broadcast across Mediacorp’s multiple platforms. The ‘live’ video streams in Singapore’s four official languages will be available online on Toggle, Mediacorp’s over-the-top video service.
1. National Day Message
The National Day Message will be broadcast with captions on 8 August 2016 on all Mediacorp television channels, its radio news stations and Toggle, in the four official languages.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver the National Day Message in English; Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Chan Chun Sing will deliver the Message in Mandarin; Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Assoc Prof Dr Yaacob Ibrahim will deliver the Message in Malay. Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr S Iswaran will deliver the Message in Tamil.
The text and video clips of the National Day Message in four languages will be available on Toggle Catch‐up (Toggle.sg/NDP2016) from 8 August after its first television broadcast. A repeat of the broadcast will be on 9 August 2016. The TV and radio broadcast schedule is found in Annex 1.
2. National Day Parade
MediaCorp will broadcast the National Day Parade (NDP) ‘live’ on 9 August 2016 on TV, radio, online and out‐of‐home.
• Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel U, Suria and Vasantham (6.05pm to 8.25pm); there will be live captions* on Channel 5 (HD).
• Channel NewsAsia International feed from 6.05pm Singapore/Hong Kong/Manila time.
• The details for the encore telecast are listed in Annex 3.
* Live captioning is provided as an option to help the hearing-impaired. The live captions can be enabled or disabled through the set top box’s “Settings”.
• 938LIVE, CAPITAL 95.8FM, Warna 94.2FM and Oli 96.8FM (6.05pm to 8.25pm in English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil respectively).
·Toggle.sg/NDP2016 (‘Live’ through simulcast of Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel U, Suria and Vasantham from 6.05pm to 8.25pm) and repeat broadcast or vod clips on Toggle CatchupTV. A separate stream of the Channel 5 Live simulcast with Live captions will be made available.
- Screens locations include Bugis Village (English), Chinatown Point (Mandarin), Junction 8, The Star Vista, iFly (Sentosa), JCube, Orchard Gateway and Westgate.

3. National Day Rally
This year, the National Day Rally will be held on Sunday, 21 August 2016 and all Mediacorp television channels and radio stations will broadcast the rally. Telecast details will be announced shortly.
