Vasantham 10 - Celebrating a decade with you!
Singapore, 12 October 2018 – Mediacorp Vasantham marks its tenth year since going ‘live’ on 19 October 2008 and quickly establishing itself as the pulse of the Indian community in Singapore. To commemorate this significant milestone together with members of the community and thank its fans and supporters, the channel has an exciting suite of activities already underway. Celebrations culminate in a grand anniversary concert on 19 October 2018 at the MES Theatre at Mediacorp.
Celebrations have been in full swing since September this year, with two roadshows held in Little India and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, giving Vasantham fans a chance to meet their favourite artistes in person.
Entitled “#Vasantham10 - Paththaandu Ini Pallaandu” (10 years and many more to come), the grand anniversary concert will be graced by Guest-of-Honour, Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education. The event promises to be a nostalgic yet refreshing celebration of the channel’s signature programmes and most memorable television moments of Vasantham in the past decade. It will bring together Vasantham’s leading hosts, actors, singers and dance groups, along with special features of the channel’s progress and achievements over the past 10 years. And as a way of giving back, Mediacorp has invited several beneficiaries from the SINDA Family Service Centre to the concert.
Fans can look forward to seeing popular Vasantham artistes such as Eswari, Karthik, Vishnu, Varman, Indra, ‘Neruppu‘ Guna, Jay Nesh, Bharathi and many more lighting up the show, which will also feature dance performances by Rameshwara RSGM, Verona, TGIF, Mera Naam Jokers and Mega Geniz dance groups. Viewers will be treated to a spectacular audiovisual experience featuring our very own singers Shabir, Suthasini, Kasthuri, Kaushik, Janani, Vishnu Balaji as well as our veteran singers L Vijayandran, Prasana, Annetha Ayyavoo and many more who will be part of this milestone celebration.
Ms Sabanitha Shanmugasundram, Head of Indian Audience, Mediacorp, said, "When Vasantham was launched in 2008 as a full channel, our vision was to create a channel that would resonate with Indian viewers. We have come a long way in just 10 years and have strengthened our brand on-air, online and on the ground. While building up our talent base, we have broken new ground in the areas of creative content and audience engagement. Today, we are proud to be the pulse of the Indian community and aspire to take this relationship to the next level."
“#Vasantham10 - Paththaandu Ini Pallaandu” will be broadcast ‘live’ on Vasantham and will be simulcast on Toggle at 9.00pm on 19 October 2018.
