New office romcom to hit screens in 2024 from maiden collaboration between Mediacorp and TVBS
Singapore, 17 October 2023 – Singapore’s largest content creator Mediacorp, and established Taiwanese media company TVBS, have teamed up for the first time ever to jointly produce a new romantic comedy drama. This collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to work with like-minded partners to produce fresh, original content that appeals to global audiences.
The drama is set to be an adaptation of the best-selling Chinese novel 《完全省钱恋爱手册》and will take a light-hearted look at the lives of three couples with different perspectives on finances as they each attempt to strike a balance between love and money matters. Titled after the novel, this co-production Love on a Shoestring (完全省钱恋爱手册) will feature artistes such as Guo Shu Yao (郭书瑶), Sam Lin Zi Hong (林子闳), Lin He Xuan (林鹤轩), Huang Bo Feng (黄柏峰) and Katie Chen Yu An (陈语安) from Taiwan, who will star alongside Mediacorp artistes Cheryl Chou (周智慧), Tyler Ten (邓伟德) and Jernelle Oh (胡煜诗).
Filming is slated to commence in October 2023, with the drama expected to hit the screens in both Singapore and Taiwan in 2024. Young audiences in particular are likely to find the drama appealing with its focus on relatable themes such as dating and managing one’s personal finances.
