Award-winning drama All That Glitters to debut on Netflix alongside other popular Mediacorp titles

This follows an agreement inked between Singapore’s largest content creator Mediacorp and global streaming platform Netflix.

Singapore, 30 April 2024 – Mediacorp’s hit drama All That Glitters (金色大道), the biggest winner at the recently concluded Star Awards 2024, will be making its way to Netflix come 1 June. This follows an agreement inked between Singapore’s largest content creator Mediacorp and global streaming platform Netflix, and is part of a content distribution deal that underscores Mediacorp’s commitment to work with partners to bring some of the best made-in-Singapore productions to audiences across Southeast Asia.

Written by celebrated screenwriter Ang Eng Tee, best known for his work on the critically acclaimed period drama The Little Nyonya (小娘惹) from 2008, All That Glitters (金色大道) tells the gripping story of three friends, Liu Mu, Jin Tiao and Jian Zhi, who dwell in the underbelly of society and are driven to crime and eventually destruction as they try to rise above their fate.

The drama scooped a total of eight awards at this year’s Star Awards; namely, “Best Drama Serial”;  “Best Actor” (Jeremy Chan); “Best Supporting Actor” (Zhang Ze Tong); “Best Director – Drama” (Wong Foong Hwee); “Best Screenplay – Drama” (Ang Eng Tee); “MY PICK! Awards – Favourite CP” (Desmond Tan, Chantalle Ng); “MY PICK! Awards – The Show Stealer” (Ayden Sng); and “MY PICK! Awards – Most Hated Villain” (Zhang Ze Tong).

Meanwhile, history and current affairs buffs will soon be able to enjoy four insightful CNA documentaries streaming on Netflix in the month of May. These are: seasons 1 and 2 of Slumfood Millionaire from 3 May onwards; Brothers in Arms from 10 May onwards; Premium Rush: Inside Air Cargo Singapore from 17 May; and the second season of Inside Crime Scene.

Jesslyn Wong, Head of Content Distribution, Mediacorp, said, “We are delighted to work with Netflix once again to showcase some of the best homegrown productions to audiences beyond our shores. This partnership reaffirms Mediacorp’s strengths in delivering quality, engaging storytelling, and we hope that viewers will come to enjoy the thrill and excitement of our dramas as well as the enriching and thought-provoking documentaries.”

This latest deal builds on several earlier ones between Mediacorp and Netflix, such as a collaboration to simultaneously debut Malay crime-themed drama Operandi Gerhana on Netflix and Mediacorp’s video streaming platform mewatch in September 2023; and prior to that in April 2022, a deal to bring  CNA’s ground-breaking documentary Inside Maximum Security to Netflix’s subscribers across 11 territories in Southeast Asia.
