From backstage to centre stage: winners of inaugural Mediacorp Screen Awards 2025 unveiled

Singapore, 29 August 2025 – In a step towards fostering deeper recognition of Singapore’s finest creative talents, the inaugural Mediacorp Screen Awards 2025 (MSA2025) made its debut at Pan Pacific Orchard this evening. Hosted by veteran artistes Irene Ang, Suhaimi Yusof, Vadi Pvss and Jean Danker, the closed-door event saw 21 distinguished awards presented across seven categories for each of the Chinese, Malay and Indian production communities, taking Singapore’s storytellers of every discipline from the backstage to centre stage.

On the drama front, momentum did the talking. The “Best Drama” winners across this year’s Pesta Perdana, Pradhana Vizha and Star Awards continued with their winning streak, with Operandi Gerhana (“Best Drama” winner at Pesta Perdana 2025) making a clean sweep of all four drama award categories at the MSA2025.  Its Star Awards 2025 and Pradhana Vizha 2025 counterparts shone as well, with Unforgivable 不可饶恕的罪恶 claiming the award for “Best Cinematography” (Ang Soon Bee 洪顺美); and Oh Butterfly taking home “Best Direction” (Kumaran Sundaram) and “Best Screenplay” (Kumaran Sundaram and Udaya Soundari).

On the entertainment front, culinary favourite Dishing With Chris Lee S2 阿顺有煮意2 added “Best Research Writing” (Wu Guo Lian 吴帼涟) and “Best Editing” (Kwong Ka Choy Eson 方奕升) to its earlier win as “Best Entertainment Programme” at Star Awards 2025. Likewise, Berani Nyanyi S2 — already crowned “Best Entertainment Programme” at Pesta Perdana 2025 — secured another accolade as industry veteran Najip Ali honoured with the “Best Direction” title. These achievements underscore the strength of Mediacorp’s entertainment slate, highlighting a creative ecosystem where auteur vision meets technical excellence.  They reflect how storytelling across genres and languages continues to evolve, pushing artistic and cultural boundaries to new heights.

The celebration of nominees and winners came alive not just in the awards, but also through a lineup of captivating performances. Singer-songwriter Shabir Sulthan lit up the stage with his biggest hits, brought to life in a performance that combined an LED light show with high-energy choreography. In a rare cross-disciplinary collaboration, vocalist Hady Mirza joined sand artist Lawrence Koh for a moving piece that fused music and visual storytelling. Closing the night, actress-singer Tasha Low commanded the stage with a spirited showcase alongside a troupe of dancers, their vibrant energy capturing the pulse of a night dedicated to creativity and excellence.
