BBC Studios inks its largest children’s content deal in Singapore with Mediacorp for over 150 hours of premium content
26 September 2024 – In what marks its largest children’s content deal in Singapore to date, BBC Studios today jointly announced with Mediacorp, the country’s national media network, an agreement to deliver over 150 hours of premium kids’ content. These will be made available on Okto on 5, the latter’s free-to-air TV programming time belt for children; and on-demand via mewatch, its digital video streaming platform from 1 October.
Trusted by parents, popular pre-school series like Hey Duggee, Sarah & Duck and Andy’s Global Adventures provide an interactive and consistently safe experience designed by developmental experts to promote imaginative play, social interaction, language skills and educational values.
As part of the launch, young viewers in Singapore can look forward to a line-up of programmes such as:
- Hey Duggee S2-3: Get set for laughter, learning and exciting activities in the adventure club that every child will want to join! Meet Duggee, a big lovable dog who runs a club for pre-schoolers that inspires children to have fun, be energetic, and - most of all - to do things! Each episode of this funny animated series starts with club leader Duggee - a big lovable dog - welcoming the Squirrels, a bunch of curious little characters who are dropped off at the club by their parents. The Squirrels' often comic adventures encourage young children to actively solve a problem by using their bodies to move, jump, run and skip. Duggee always rewards them by giving them a Squirrel activity badge - which they proudly show to their parents when they are picked up at the end of the show. Packed with humour and pop culture references, Hey Duggee is sure to captivate viewers of all ages.
- Andy’s Global Adventures: Andy, Jen and new AI team member Scout return for a new series where they explore all seven continents, meeting an incredible range of wildlife along the way. In his latest set of adventures, Andy travels to all corners of the globe, meeting an amazing new cast of animals – from chameleons in Sri Lanka to emperor penguins in Antarctica. Accompanied by tech wizard Jen and new information-seeking AI Scout, Andy travels the globe in a hi-tech expedition truck, a scientific research station that houses Jen’s database of incredible facts about fauna and flora that inhabit our planet. In each episode, the team are sent on a mission by HQ to solve a puzzle from natural history. The intrepid trio must complete their mission and upload their findings to the database before they can continue their journey.
- Go Jetters S2-3: Packed with comedy, teamwork, thrilling action, great gadgets, awesome sights and funky facts about brand new places, this colourful animation series follows the adventures of four plucky international heroes, Xuli, Kyan, Lars and Foz, as they travel the world with their teacher, mentor and friend, Ubercorn, a funky disco-grooving unicorn. These superhero Go Jetters live high in the sky above Earth and just love to explore new places! Their task is to learn about the many fascinating man-made and natural landmarks in our world. Travelling the world with their teacher, mentor and friend Ubercorn, a disco-grooving unicorn, the Go Jetters are fixing the mishaps caused by the mischievous meddlings of Grandmaster Glitch in new locations including Central Park in New York, Machu Picchu, China, Japan, Mali, and Petra in Jordan. And now we get to know our plucky international heroes, Xuli, Kyan, Lars and Foz even better, as Series 2 takes us to the top-secret island home of the Go Jet Academy to see them in training.
