CNA938 shifts programme focus to hyper-local content to deepen connection with Singapore audiences

Revamp of Singapore’s top news radio station will include more business and lifestyle programmes, in continued efforts to better cater to the evolving needs and interests of local listeners

Singapore, 28 February 2025 – Mediacorp’s top news radio station, CNA938, will be refreshing its lineup from 3 March to offer more business and lifestyle-oriented content designed with listeners in Singapore in mind. With this revamp, CNA938 audiences can expect to enjoy the following:

  • More hyper-local focus: Content tailored for local listeners, featuring news and views relevant to their daily lives, whether at work or at play.
  • More business news and content focused on personal finance: Tips to help listeners advance their careers and make smart financial choices.
  • More health and wellness content: Conversations with experts offering advice on living better and longer.

Explaining how the revamp was underpinned by a desire to understand and address the needs of consumers, CNA938 Chief Editor Eugene Wee said: “We solicited feedback and views from our listeners through surveys and focus group discussions, and came up with a refreshed slate of content based on their suggestions.”

Added Mr Wee: “CNA’s television and digital audiences come from all over the world and appreciate our ability to help them ‘Understand Asia’. The bulk of CNA938’s listeners, however, live and work in Singapore. They are more engaged with our local content, news, issues and analysis about Singapore. That is why we are focusing on serving our Singapore listeners.”

The revamp builds upon results from the latest Nielsen Radio Survey 2024, which places CNA938 among the top 10 radio stations in Singapore based on audience reach. Underscoring the continued deep engagement and connection with audiences, the survey also revealed that CNA938 had increased its reach by 18 per cent, and the time spent listening by 23 per cent.

CNA938 will mark the official launch of its revamp from 3 March with a series of outreach activations including outdoor broadcasts from events such as Mediacorp’s Career Forward event, as well as crossovers with CNA TV’s news programmes.
