Let’s Celebrate 2023 with Mediacorp as your favourite countdown party returns to The Promontory at Marina Bay

Usher in the new year with an exciting slate of Let’s Celebrate 2023 activities as your favourite annual countdown party returns to The Promontory at Marina Bay! Audiences will be treated to performances by a star-studded line-up of local and international talents who will dazzle crowds on-ground after a two-year live audience hiatus.

Singapore, 28 November 2022 – Usher in the new year with an exciting slate of Let’s Celebrate 2023 activities as your favourite annual countdown party returns to The Promontory at Marina Bay! Audiences will be treated to performances by a star-studded line-up of local and international talents who will dazzle crowds on-ground after a two-year live audience hiatus.

Committed to providing local talents with platforms to showcase their artistic expertise, Mediacorp will be presenting a new combination of hosts for this year’s show. This includes 987’s Germaine Tan and Maya Davidov, alongside digital content creators J Jaikishan and Zhin Sadali, all of whom will be making their Let’s Celebrate hosting debuts this year. Joining them in hyping up the live audience are top talents such as Malaysian singer-songwriter Shila Amzah, who will be performing English and Mandarin numbers, and popular local artistes Richie Koh and Desmond Ng. Also keeping up the celebratory atmosphere will be homegrown rappers Yung Raja and Fariz Jabba; as well as ALYPH, the singer behind the TikTok trending song SWIPE.

Let’s Celebrate 2023 will also see the unique fusion of the culinary arts and music as vocalist Glenn Yong joins forces with the King of Culinary mentor Chefs Bob, Eric Teo and S.R. Bala, to present a novel drumming percussion performance using kitchenware. Belting out into the night will be the multi-faceted duo Ebi Shankara and Sherly Devonne Ng, while SPOP Wave! winner Gao Mei Gui and finalist Ridhwan Azman reunite to treat audiences to a rousing song performance. Additionally, veteran icon Rahimah Rahim, up-and-coming artiste Estelle Fly and Pradhana Vizha 2021 ‘Best Original Singer’ recipient Pavithra Nair, will team up to present a fresh cross-generational collaboration.

Partygoers can get their celebrations going hours before fireworks illuminate the Marina Bay skyline, starting from 7.00pm, with electronic music beats echoing through The Promontory. There will be opportunities to meet the performing artistes, participate in lucky draws and carnival games and indulge in delicious light bites and refreshments. There will also be a Bullet Time Photo Booth onsite, as well as at various pop-up locations across the island in the weeks leading up to 31 December, where one can create personalised new year’s greeting videos, to be shared with family and friends. Germaine Tan



Germaine Tan first shot to fame under her moniker ‘Baby-G’ on CLASS 95’s Muttons In The Morning. She draws listeners in with her outgoing and vivacious personality, and today she co-hosts her own show on 987, The Down Low with Germaine & Avery. Apart from being on-air, Germaine is also the face of the Hush podcast on the popular YouTube channel Clarity.

Germaine is also a fashion and lifestyle influencer who pursues her entrepreneurial endeavours. She founded Hot App SG, which aids parents in better managing their children’s enrichment activities.

J Jaikishan




Local actor and host, J Jaikishan, better known as Kishan J, is known for his unique blend of eloquence and eccentricity. He is a key member of the YouTube sensation Wah!Banana, which has amassed over one million subscribers.

Kishan spent five years behind the camera, honing his skills in film production, before nabbing his first acting role on the English long-form drama Tanglin. Since then, Kishan has gone on to expand his acting range, having starred in a variety of dramas and films.

Maya Davidov




A fresh face on 987, Maya Nicole Davidov connects with her listeners by bringing them heart-warming stories. She is also known for occasionally breaking into songs while on-air.

Maya also performed at multiple large-scale events such as the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix as well as the celebration of diplomatic relations between Israel and Singapore. A fitness trainer, business owner, model and singer, Maya has also worked with big brands like Nike and FedEx.

Zhin Sadali




A key member of TheSmartLocal’s core team, Zhin Sadali is a multi-faceted talent to look out for. Not only is he a popular online star, Zhin is also making a name for himself in the offline sphere and on-screen, having appeared on a range of dramas and programmes.

Zhin co-hosted the Malay info-ed programme Projek L.I.T. and acted in the English award-winning drama The Algorithm. Most recently, Zhin appeared in the English action thriller Third Rail. When not in front of the camera, Zhin leads a team of project managers at TheSmartLocal.









ALYPH first burst into the music scene in 2005 as one half of the influential Singaporean hip-hop duo, SleeQ. Since then, ALYPH has established himself as a solo artist and music producer, having worked with numerous icons in the Malay music industry such as Joe Flizzow, Kaka Azraff, K-Clique and Zizan Razak.

With most of his songs panning out to be hits, ALYPH has also found huge success with his most recent release, SWIPE. The track has quickly become a viral sensation and trend on the popular video-sharing platform TikTok.


Chef Bob




Celebrity chef Shahrizal Salleh, more commonly known as Chef Bob, is a familiar face in the local foodie scene. A master in Malay, Indian, Indonesian and Spanish cuisines, Chef Bob is also a celebrated cookbook author.

He has helmed numerous food and cooking programmes over the years, amounting to over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry. Most recently, Chef Bob starred as a mentor chef in Mediacorp’s multi-language cooking competition King of Culinary.

Chef Eric Teo




As the first Singaporean to be appointed President of the Singapore Chef’s Association, Chef Eric Teo is well-renowned in the culinary scene. He is also the Managing Director and Chef of the restaurant Three Embers, whose career is decorated with a bevy of awards.

The three-time winner of ‘Executive Chef of the Year’ at the World Gourmet Summit, plays a pivotal role as a Master Mentor with the Asian Culinary Institute Singapore, where he moulds the next generation of chefs. Recently, Chef Eric also starred as a mentor chef in Mediacorp’s multi-language cooking competition King of Culinary.

Chef S.R. Bala




Chef Balasundram Pillai, better known as Chef S.R. Bala has over 22 years of experience in perfecting the craft of Indian fusion foods. As President of the Indian Chefs & Culinary Association (Singapore) as well as Chef and Managing Director of popular restaurant Empire Cuisine, Chef Bala also recently starred as a mentor chef in Mediacorp’s multi-language cooking competition King of Culinary.

Fervently passionate about local cuisine, Chef Bala has also partnered with numerous organisations including the Health Promotion Board, the National Environment Agency and the Indian Heritage Centre to raise awareness on the diversity of hawker and Indian food.


Desmond Ng




Having beaten out veterans to clinch the win at The Getai Challenge in 2015, there is no denying local singer Desmond Ng’s powerful vocals. Combined with his charisma and captivating stage presence, Desmond secured the ‘Most Potential Award’ at the ASEAN+3 Song Contest in 2019.

Apart from singing, Desmond is also a skilled and well-loved host and actor. He was nominated for ‘Best Host’ and bagged the ‘Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste’ trophy at the Star Awards 2017.


Ebi Shankara




The trilingual and multi-faceted Ebi Shankara has been highly acclaimed for his English, Tamil and Malay works in the industry. The actor, singer, host and theatre practitioner found his footing in the entertainment scene after his win on the Tamil reality competition Vasantham Star 2007.

Ebi regularly performs at major shows and events including charity and countdown shows as well as the National Day Parade. With his role as Kenneth Bala on the English long-form drama Kin, Ebi has also cemented his position as a household name in Singapore.


Estelle Fly




Artiste Estelle Fly broke into the entertainment scene as a member of the Japanese idol group Sea*A. Since then, she has steadily grown as a solo artiste and released her first solo single, Blue, back in 2018.

Estelle continues breaking new ground by experimenting with different sounds and influences in her work. Inspired by her love for K-Pop and American pop divas, Estelle uses her unique voice to produce a distinct blend of pop and R&B with captivating hooks and dance beats.


Fariz Jabba




Famed local rapper, dancer and singer Fariz Jabba first made a name for himself in 2017, when he participated in an Instagram freestyle rap contest. Fariz’s homemade rap videos subsequently caught the attention of Malaysian hip-hop veteran Joe Flizzow, who spotlighted Fariz in an online rap cypher show 16 Baris.

With smooth and captivating music, coupled with his bilingual verses, Fariz has established himself on both sides of the causeway.


Gao Mei Gui




An artiste who wears many hats, Gao Mei Gui is a well-loved YES 933 DJ, popular host and an exceptional vocalist. She first joined the entertainment scene in 2006, where she emerged as one of the top 10 female finalists for the inaugural season of Chinese reality singing competition Campus Superstar.

A versatile performer who has hosted and sung for a plethora of events, Mei Gui continues to soar to new heights. Most recently, she emerged as the Grand Winner of the Chinese reality singing competition SPOP Wave!.

Glenn Yong




Rising star Glenn Yong first made waves in the entertainment scene in 2019, when he appeared in the Chinese drama The Good Fight. Since then, Glenn has starred in multiple dramas and films including Live Your Dreams, Victory Lap and most recently, Ah Girls Go Army.

Bolstering his heartthrob status in the industry, Glenn’s talents also extend to singing. Through his latest single, UP UP, Glenn hopes to empower and encourage others to chase their dreams and achieve what they have set out to do.


Pavithra Nair




A star in the music industry, Pavithra Shreedharan Nair rose to fame when she finished as a finalist in Vasantham Star 2011. More recently, Pavithra clinched the award for ‘Best Original Singer’ at Pradhana Vizha 2021.

Her talents and distinctive voice can be heard across film soundtracks such as Kollywood crime thriller Sinam, as well as various locally produced award-winning movies and dramas. The multi-faceted Pavithra has also made acting appearances in English and Tamil dramas including Sunny Side Up, Yaar 3, Oruvan and Mani.

Rahimah Rahim




A staple in the local music scene since the 70s, veteran singer and Cultural Medallion recipient Rahimah Rahim, is regarded as a national treasure. With over a dozen hit albums under her belt, Rahimah is a powerful and versatile songstress.

Throughout her career, she has performed alongside prominent singers like Miami Sound Machine, Alan Tam and the late Leslie Cheung as well as Sudirman Haji Arshad. In 2017, Rahimah was recognised and inducted into the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to the local arts and entertainment scene.

Richie Koh






Actor Richie Koh discovered the limelight in 2013 after emerging as runner-up in the Chinese reality talent show Hey Gorgeous. With his good looks and charming demeanour, Richie landed roles in prominent Chinese dramas including When Duty Calls and 118 Reunion.

His outstanding performances secured him a nomination for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Star Awards 2018. More recently, Richie was critically acclaimed for his portrayal of Tian Cai, a young adult with special needs in the Chinese drama Your World in Mine.


Ridhwan Azman




YouTuber and influencer Ridhwan Azman rose to fame as an actor after starring in the Ah Boys to Men film series. Through his comedic skits and music parodies, Ridhwan amassed an enthusiastic following of close to 700,000 subscribers on his channel.

Ridhwan is also a brilliant singer who recently clinched first runner-up in the Chinese reality singing competition SPOP Wave!. His passion for singing, in multiple languages such as Mandarin, Hokkien, Malay and Korean, earned him the limelight in the entertainment scene.

Sherly Devonne Ng




The multi-talented Sherly Devonne Ng first launched her entertainment career right after graduating from polytechnic in 2013. Sherly has produced music including the highly popular track, Missing You, for the Chinese drama When Duty Calls 2. She also emerged as the second runner-up in the Chinese reality singing competition SPOP Wave!.

Apart from her vocals, Sherly also treats her audiences on-screen. She has proven herself to be an actress with a wide range, having appeared in several dramas including Tanglin, 128 Circle and Lion Mums.

Shila Amzah




Malaysian singer-songwriter Shila Amzah is one of Asia’s leading contemporary female artistes. After winning popular Chinese reality singing competition Asian Wave in 2012, Shila became the first Malaysian recording artist to break into the Chinese music scene.

Recognised as a game changer in the entertainment industry, Shila was on the Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2018. With her powerhouse vocals, Shila continues to make waves both regionally and internationally.


Yung Raja




Since his releasing his breakout hit Mustafa in 2018, Yung Raja has quickly made a name for himself as one of Singapore’s biggest hip-hop exports. With fast flows, quickfire rhymes and cheeky wordplay, Yung Raja secured his spot on the coveted NME 100 list in 2021.

Seamlessly blending English and Tamil in his verses, Yung Raja has received praise from international rappers and publications for his works. He hopes to continue elevating Southeast Asia hip-hop to the world stage.
