Mediacorp honoured with multiple wins at three international award festivals
Singapore, 23 May 2025 – Mediacorp has earned international acclaim with a total of 91 accolades across three prestigious industry events – the World Media Festivals Television & Corporate Media Awards 2025 (WMF), the New York Festivals (NYF) TV & Film Awards 2025, and the New York Festivals (NYF) Radio Awards 2025. This includes a remarkable 47 wins at WMF (two Special Awards, 18 Gold Awards, and 27 Silver Awards), alongside 42 wins at NYF TV & Film Awards 2025 (five Gold Awards, seven Silver Awards, six Bronze Awards, and 24 Finalist honours), and two wins at NYF Radio Awards 2025 (one Gold Award and one Bronze Award).
World Media Festivals Television & Corporate Media Awards 2025
Mediacorp’s accolades at this year’s WMF were largely in recognition of its documentary and current affairs programmes, as well as entertainment content. Among the top honours were two Special Awards presented to Mediacorp:
Produced by Kraken Films, Reaching The Unreached was awarded the Special Award “CORAZÓN”, an honour given to a programme that deeply resonates on a personal and emotional level, in memory of the festival’s founder, Cora Chinbuah. The series also clinched a Gold in the “Documentary: Human Concerns” category. This three-part documentary follows nomadic caregivers as they travel across remote regions to bring vital healthcare to underserved communities, highlighting their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to saving lives in some of the world’s most inaccessible places.
World’s Unique Neighbourhoods, produced by WaWa Pictures Pte Ltd, received the Special Award “HAND IN HAND”, which recognises programmes that showcase impactful efforts driving positive change in society.The series also earned Gold in the “Documentary: Environmental Protection” category. This documentary series explores unique neighbourhoods around the world, each shaped by its culture and community spirit. From green urban design to vibrant social networks, the series highlights how communities are building sustainable, inclusive futures.
New York Festivals TV & Film Awards 2025
Mediacorp’s 42 accolades at this year’s NYF, which also include 24 Finalist honours, were also largely in recognition of its documentary and current affairs programmes, with five Gold Awards recognising its powerful storytelling and journalistic excellence.
Tuesday Report “Hands of Wonder – Wig of Hope”, received the Gold Award in the “Documentary: Social Issues” category. This heartwarming episode features Ah Mui and Ah Kam, dedicated artisans behind Singapore’s last traditional wig-making business. Teaming up with a group of students, they craft lifelike wings as heartfelt gifts for cancer patients, restoring not just hair, but hope and confidence.
Insight: India’s Struggle with Gender Violence earned a Gold in the “Documentary: Social Justice” category. This gripping episode delves into the deeply rooted societal issues and systemic challenges surrounding gender-based violence in India, featuring firsthand accounts from survivors and perspectives from activists and experts pushing for reform.
Walk The Line was honoured with the Gold in the “Documentary: Current Affairs” category. The episode provides an unflinching look at the global migrant crisis, tracing the perilous journeys of those fleeing conflict and poverty in search of safety and a better life, while exploring the broader political and humanitarian implications.
Produced by Threesixzero Productions, No Ordinary Rescue S2 received the Gold in the “Documentary: Heroes” category. The series celebrates Singapore’s emergency responders, highlighting extraordinary acts of bravery and resilience through real-life rescue missions that underscore the dedication and courage of these unsung heroes.
Finally, Wei Du, Senior Correspondent at CNA, was awarded Gold in the “News Program: News Reporter/Correspondent” category. As a key journalist on programmes such as Walk The Line and Insight, Wei Du is recognised for her fearless on-the-ground reporting and compelling storytelling that bring complex global issues to light with clarity and empathy.
New York Festivals Radio Awards 2025
Mediacorp received a Gold Award for Asian Tsunami Anniversary Special (Part 1 and 2) in the “Podcast: Narrative/Documentary Podcast” category. This compelling two-part series marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, one of the deadliest natural disasters in history. Through interviews with survivors, rescuers, and journalists, the podcast revisits the tragedy’s enduring impact and the resilience of communities who continue to rebuild and remember.
