Mediacorp’s Inkspiration wraps up stellar first season and gears up for exciting second chapter

Singapore, 4 December 2025 – The ink continues to flow! Following a successful inaugural run, Inkspiration 《一剧成名梦工坊》, Mediacorp’s mentorship programme for aspiring Chinese drama scriptwriters will return for a second season, continuing its mission to discover and nurture homegrown storytelling talent and to build a strong pipeline for the next generation of creative voices in Singapore.

Celebrating a successful first season

Season 1 of Inkspiration was highly acclaimed for its exceptional mentorship, bringing together a star-studded lineup of industry mentors including Angie Chai, Cheng Fen-Fen, Lu Shih-Yuan, Ryan Tu and Wen Yu-Fang, whose diverse expertise and storytelling mastery provided invaluable guidance and inspiration to participants throughout the mentorship journey. Their insights and creative leadership helped mentees refine their craft, sharpen their narratives and develop distinctive voices.

The season also featured renowned industry veterans such as Yen Yi-Wen and Olive Ting from Netflix’s Born For the Spotlight, along with award-winning Singaporean writer Ang Eng Tee from Emerald Hill, who conducted a series of exclusive masterclasses that deepened participants’ understanding of character development, structure and audience engagement.

Following several months of hands-on training and creative masterclasses, six promising writers have emerged from the inaugural season: Cecilia Ang (生有可恋 Still Loving It), Ivan Ho (阿明·创世纪 B-Genesis), Colin Huang (原来我爱的只是你 You, All Along), Lee Xin Yi (杀青以后吃火锅 Hotpot After Shoot), Ng Jun Yi (快乐一家亲 Happy Go Lucky) and Ong Xiao Wei (你们我们他和她 It’s Complicated). Their pilot episodes are currently in production, marking an exciting next chapter not only for these emerging scriptwriters but also for Inkspiration’s ongoing mission to bring original ideas from page to screen and spotlight Singapore’s next wave of storytellers.

Inkspiration returns for Season 2

Building on the success of its first season, Inkspiration returns for Season two with an enhanced programme designed to elevate the next generation of storytellers. Over four months, participants will embark on an immersive creative journey of mentorship sessions and intensive masterclasses, guided by a line-up of A-list mentors who bring fresh perspectives, proven industry expertise and exceptional creative guidance. This new chapter of Inkspiration promises to be both inspiring and transfomative, culminating in a final pitch where the most exceptional projects will be selected for pilot production.

Supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Inkspiration continues to unearth and empower emerging homegrown storytellers, guiding them through enriching training and mentorship by distinguished masters of the art.

Mediacorp’s Chief Content Officer Virginia Lim said, “Our experience from Season 1 affirmed the importance of putting in place a structured development pathway to support writers at the early stages of their journey. With Season 2, we remain focused on developing writing talent and supporting stories that reflect Singapore’s unique identity and creative spirit. This continued investment in local storytelling underscores our commitment to nurturing the next generation of writers and strengthening Singapore’s creative ecosystem.”

IMDA Assistant Chief Executive, Media Industry Group, Yvonne Tang, said, “Season 1 has shown that when new storytellers are paired with strong mentorship, powerful stories can take shape. We are happy to be supporting a second run of Inkspiration for new emerging local scriptwriters to learn from acclaimed industry veterans and hone their craft in storytelling. We look forward to seeing more homegrown stories make the leap from script to screen and resonate with both Singaporean and global audiences.”

Inkspiration is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 16 and above, and submissions will run from December 2025 to February 2026. For more information, please visit www.mediacorp.sg/inkspiration
