From Singapore to the world: Mediacorp’s Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story makes FTA debut on Taiwan’s CTS; cast reunites for new travelogue Our Hillside Moments (小娘惹翡翠山之开门见山)
Singapore, 7 August 2025 – Building on its regional momentum, Mediacorp’s period drama phenomenon Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story 小娘惹之翡翠山premiered 4 August on Taiwan’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Chinese Television System (CTS) 华视, marking the Taiwan public broadcaster’s first foreign content acquisition in four years – and its first-ever acquisition of a Singapore drama for a primetime belt. Airing weeknights 8pm to 9pm, the latest acquisition deal caps Emerald Hill’s tri-platform presence in Taiwan: Pay TV via TVBS, OTT via friDAY, and now FTA via CTS.
Chang-de Liu, General Manager, CTS, said: “CTS has always been committed to promoting multiculturalism, so we are delighted to partner with Mediacorp to air Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story during our 8pm prime-time slot. This allows the excellent production to reach even more Taiwanese audiences, whom we hope will cultivate a deeper understanding of Peranakan culture. This partnership not only echoes the New Southbound Policy and strengthens Taiwan's ties with Southeast Asia, but also aligns with CTS's 2025 theme: 'Local Vitality, International Diversity’.”
Virginia Lim, Chief Content Officer, Mediacorp, said: “Emerald Hill’s primetime debut on CTS is another strong endorsement of our content – one we’re thrilled to see echoed in the positive reviews and audience reactions since its premiere. For a public broadcaster to select our drama as their first foreign drama acquisition in four years speaks volumes about its production quality and the universal resonance of authentic local stories. We hope this vivid window into the Peranakan world finds a special place in the hearts and homes of Taiwanese audiences, and we remain deeply committed to exporting the best of Mediacorp to the world.”
This milestone adds to the blockbuster’s strong momentum at home and abroad. Since its Singapore debut earlier this year, the drama has drawn over 2.1 million viewers locally1, achieving new milestones across platforms. On mewatch and Channel 8, it stands as the most-watched local Chinese drama in five years. On Netflix Singapore, it made history as the first Singapore drama to debut at #1, on top of holding a “Top 10” spot for seven consecutive weeks. Its global footprint has only grown since: beyond Taiwan, the series has been picked up in Malaysia via Astro and Netflix; across Southeast Asia via Netflix; globally via Singapore Airlines’ KrisWorld and British Airways; and soon in China via both Shanghai Media Group’s Dragon TV and Tencent Video, where it will stream alongside the original The Little Nyonya 小娘惹.
Travelogue series Our Hillside Moments reunites Emerald Hill cast beyond mansion walls
As the blockbuster gripped audiences with its intricate plot, the electric chemistry among its cast has proven to be just as captivating. Now, fans can see those real-life bonds up close in a brand-new reality travelogue, Our Hillside Moments 小娘惹翡翠山之开门见山, which brings together Hsiu Chieh-kai 修杰楷, Jesseca Liu 刘子绚, Romeo Tan 陈罗密欧, Tasha Low 刘怡伶, Chantalle Ng 黄暄婷, Zhang Ze Tong 张哲通, Tyler Ten 邓伟德and more to pull back the curtain on the relationships that drive their on-screen magic.
The show's Chinese title 开门见山, part literal and part idiom, frames this promise perfectly: a door flung open to picturesque landscapes, and conversations that dive straight to the core. Across Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, the cast will share unscripted insights into their personal journeys, off-screen friendships, and memories forged on set, inviting audiences on an adventure that expands the Emerald Hill universe beyond the mansion walls and into the great outdoors. The series will premiere on mewatch and Channel 8 from 29 September, airing every Monday at 8.00pm. More details will follow in due course.
