Star Awards 2022 : A Dazzling Night at Stars Avenue!
The stars aligned and dreams came true for some of the brightest and most popular celebrities at the spectacular Star Awards 2022 (SA2022) held earlier this evening! In a grand celebration of local content and talent, a total of 18 awards were presented at the SA2022 main ceremony, another six MY PICK! awards at the Backstage LIVE event and a Bioskin Most Charismatic Award during the Walk of Fame segment.
Singapore, 24 April 2022 – The stars aligned and dreams came true for some of the brightest and most popular celebrities at the spectacular Star Awards 2022 (SA2022) held earlier this evening! In a grand celebration of local content and talent, a total of 18 awards were presented at the SA2022 main ceremony, another six MY PICK! awards at the Backstage LIVE event and a Bioskin Most Charismatic Award during the Walk of Fame segment.
Held at The Theatre at Mediacorp, the star-studded show saw Chen Hanwei (陈汉玮) and Huang Biren (黄碧仁) newly crowned as the Best Actor and Best Actress respectively for their performances in Recipe of Life (味之道). My Star Bride (过江新娘) was named Best Drama while The Breakfast Quartet (早安! 玉建煌崇) took home the Best Radio Programme award. On the variety front, The Inner Circle (神秘嘉宾) and Cooking For A Cause (特别的食物给特别的你) were awarded the Best Entertainment Programme and Best Infotainment Programme respectively, while Quan Yi Fong (权怡凤) clinched the Best Programme Host award. The highly anticipated list of the Top 10 Most Popular Female and Male Artistes were also announced at the exciting three-hour ceremony, and these included well-loved veterans like Marcus Chin (陈建彬), Guo Liang (郭亮) and Cynthia Koh (许美珍), first-time entrants Chantalle Ng (黄暄婷) and Brandon Wong (黄炯耀), as well as new-gen talents Carrie Wong (黄思恬) and Hong Ling (洪凌) who are starting to gain wider recognition and are on their way to becoming household names. The All-Time Favourite award recipients Dennis Chew (周崇庆) and Zheng Ge Ping (郑各评) were also introduced by Guest of Honour Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information and Second Minister for Home Affairs. All winners received their trophies from the award-winning LeoBot which was an obvious crowd favourite when it cruised across the stage to deliver the prizes.
At the seven-hour Backstage LIVE marathon, stars of the popular series My Star Bride (过江新娘), Xu Bin (徐彬) and Chantalle Ng (黄暄婷) were voted by fans as their Favourite CP at the inaugural MY PICK! Awards. Xu Bin (徐彬) and Chantalle Ng (黄暄婷) also bagged the Male and Female Show Stealer awards respectively for their striking ability to capture eyeballs, while Brandon Wong (黄炯耀) in Recipe of Life (味之道) was the one audiences loved to hate, as they picked him as their Most Hated Villain. Chen Biyu (陈碧玉), Dennis Chew (周崇庆), Marcus Chin (陈建彬) and Mark Lee (李国煌) were deemed the Perfect Combo for their sizzling chemistry in Yu Jian Huang Chong Weekend Edition (玉建煌崇 - 周末版); and Herman Keh (郭坤耀) was picked the Most Attention-Grabbing New Gen Host for his flair in emceeing. In addition, Desmond Tan (陈泂江) also took home the Bioskin Most Charismatic Award which was presented during the Walk of Fame.

Awards aside, famed superstar Aaron Kwok 郭富城 graced the event in a special appearance. The show also showcased a star-studded lineup of overseas award presenters the likes of Carol Cheng 郑裕玲, Moses Chan 陈豪, Jacky Wu 吴宗宪 and Micky Huang 黃子佼. These celebrities were featured as life-sized, three-dimensional holograms via holoportation device Proto while they interacted virtually in real time with audiences. Other local award presenters including Guo Liang 郭亮, Irene Ang 洪爱玲, Jaspers Lai 赖宇涵 and Marcus Chin 陈建彬 also added to the glitz of the evening.
Other exhilarating SA2022 elements featured the showcase of state-of-the-art technologies that turned SA2022 into a visually spectacular showcase. During the Walk of Fame segment, the Bolt™ High-Speed Camera Robot and Phantom Flex4k captured the artistes’ show-stopping moments, while real and virtual worlds collided in a special segment featuring Extended Reality (XR) technology with show host Chen Hanwei bringing viewers through an immersive journey of the content nominated in this year’s Star Awards.
