M Saffri A Manaf is a well-known writer-actor who has made a significant impact on radio, television and the theatre industry. He has established himself as a pioneer in the industry with a career spanning more than five decades, creating engaging stories that have captivated listeners and audiences since 1970. Saffri’s initial goal in pursuing a career in broadcasting was to land a job as a Radio DJ at a radio station. However, fate has other plans for him. Saffri received a job offer as a voice actor rather than a DJ. Saffri seized the opportunity, and with the help of a producer, Hashim Yusof, he began to work on his first radio drama in September 1969. In 1972, Saffri began a new chapter in his life as an actor, marking the beginning of his career in the entertainment industry. His passion for acting and storytelling inspired him to look at different career options. In 1973, Saffri wrote for his first theatre production with Sriwana, “Jula Juli Bintang Tiga”.

Saffri’s career as a radio drama voice actor served as a springboard for his later works in television drama writing and acting. He gained a strong foundation in storytelling, dialogue delivery, and character development through his radio drama experiences.
