Mdm Pavalakantham Azhagarsamy

Mdm Pavalakantham Azhagarsamy is a veteran of Tamil broadcast journalism whose career spans more than four decades. She began her professional journey as a court interpreter before joining the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) in 1985 as a part-time news reader.

Over time, she became one of the most recognisable and trusted faces of Tamil news, known for her exceptional command of the Tamil language, clear diction, and warm, authoritative delivery. Across a distinguished career of over 40 years, she has earned numerous accolades, including the “Best News Presenter” award at the Pradhana Vizha awards in 2002 and 2004. Her portfolio includes interviews with foreign dignitaries, ministers, VIPs, and community leaders, reflecting the trust placed in her as a credible and composed broadcaster.

She has played a key role in several flagship productions, serving as the main anchor for the Tamil Election Show for three consecutive years, and as a presenter on the Tamil current affairs programme Ethiroli for a decade.
