Creatives Assembly 2022: Singapore Polytechnic students spill all on their winning pitch for Odd Job Agency

What does it take to craft a winning pitch? Let’s hear it from Singapore Polytechnic’s En Yi, Christine and Tilly, who emerged as joint winners of the inaugural Content Development Pitch at Mediacorp’s Creatives Assembly 2022 for their comedy, OJA (Odd Job Agency).

As the title of the show suggests, OJA follows the story of a young woman who opens an agency which specialises in carrying out, well, “odd jobs”. In the video below, the winning pitchers spill the beans on what OJA is all about (0:26); inspirations behind the quirky storyline (0:45); how they turned their “existential crisis” into a winning pitch (1:11); their eye-opening experience at the live pitching session (1:42), plus what’s next for them (4:00).

Having secured funding support from Mediacorp as part of their win, the pilot episode is now in development, so be sure to watch this space for updates!

Inspired by En Yi, Christine and Tilly’s journey? We’ve got your back with Creatives Assembly, Mediacorp’s annual call for ideas exercise to seek the best concepts for commissioning across languages and platforms. After a successful launch in 2021, the event returned for its second run in November 2022, bringing together the best minds across the community from production houses, digital content creators and institutes of higher learning to craft the most impactful stories for our audiences.

If that sounds like your calling, visit www.mediacorp.sg/commissioning and stay tuned for the next call for submissions later this year!
