Mediacorp and Coupang Play join forces in landmark Korean series production, Absolute Value of Romance
Singapore, 3 December 2025 – Mediacorp has announced a riveting new partnership with Coupang Play, to co-produce its first-ever Korean series, Absolute Value of Romance. Supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, the landmark collaboration brings together Singapore’s national media network and Coupang Play, South Korea’s biggest local streaming service, in a vibrant cross-cultural production that blends both Coupang Play and Mediacorp’s expanding global storytelling ambitions.
A fresh and witty romance set in a high school, Absolute Value of Romance follows Yeo Eui-ju, a quiet student with a double life. By day, she’s an unassuming highschooler; by night, she secretly writes web novels and dreams of literary fame. But success feels far away — until inspiration strikes in the forms of four irresistibly charming new teachers, whose arrival sends both her school and her stories into overdrive.
Leading the cast is Kim Hyang Gi, one of South Korea’s most beloved young stars (Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, Innocent Witness), alongside Cha Hak-yeon of K-pop boyband VIXX (Joseon Attorney, Castaway Diva), Kim Jae-hyun of rock band N.Flying, Sohn Jeong-hyuck, and Kim Dong-gyu.
Bringing a proudly local touch to the production, rising Mediacorp star Gladys Bay makes her mark on the Korean entertainment scene with her K-drama debut as Jenny, a spirited Singaporean exchange student who becomes Eui-ju’s closest confidante. Bay’s inclusion in the main supporting cast shines a spotlight on Singaporean talent, and firmly underscores Mediacorp’s growing presence in international productions.
Filming is currently underway in Korea, with the Korean-language series set to premiere in 2026 on Coupang Play. The exact premiere date will be announced at a later date.
